How much would someone have to pay you to smile to the cameras dressed in the role of a slave? This was no feature Hollywood film being made, but instead an annual National Federation of Republican Women Board of Directors meeting in Charleston, S.C. entitled “The Southern Experience”.
S.C. Senate President Glenn McConnel is pictured above with two african americans in ‘costume’, smiling and looking like they are enjoying themselves very much. Many southerners still embrace the time of the Confederacy as a huge part of their heritage, while on the other hand some want to brush it all under the rug and forget that it ever happened.
